In my post, I thought I made it clear that a direct comparison of Java and Active X was not being made, since "they do not do the same thing." Yet there is some overlap in interactive functionality. Active X, especially when combined with a scripting language like VBscript will go farther, faster in the REAL WORLD, not a techies dream, than Java and Javascript. As of this date, the number of potential, and possibly actual Active X and VBscript capable developers outstrips by far the amount of Java programmers. MSFT simply has tons of code and developers equity sitting on over a million desktops, Neither Javasoft nor Sun can say that. And in case that some how does not manifest itself, MSFT has used the carnivorous technique (as a hedge) to do Java better than the Java-makers by co-opting the language into thier own development environment, and professing to do it better. MSFT has beaten many a company that possesed a chronological and demographic headstart by being CARNIVOROUS. Remember, my comparison was between MSFT and NSCP, and there potential interactive implementations and tactical strategies, and not directly between Sun and MSFT, and their respective technologies.
