To narrow down your problem, I recommend to run these
"burn-in" programms, BURNBX in particular:
users.ev1.net

If this is a memory/northbridge problem, you should be
able to see it rather quickly.

Also, try to overclock your FSB/memory system by 5-10%,
and see if the rate of error is higher. If it does not
overclock by that amount, trash your mainboard.

Also, try to run any big system benchmark, BAPCO or
Winstone, old or new-does not matter. If your system
is incapable to complete the benchmark without an
error, you have a problem. Try to disable bus-mastering
on your drive and CDROM. Try to disable audio.
