How is it not ethical?
In one case there is a long and deliberative action to take the life of an obviously self aware person, some of whom have been shown to be innocent, and in the other there is a removal of cells which are unlikely to be complex enough to be self aware. The ethical dilemma I see is taking the life of someone who knows they are alive as opposed to taking the life of someone who is yet unaware. Neither position is ideal but the republican position is completely reversed from any ethics I learned.
