Hi, B.K. This is really to all. I just finished posting the results of some research I did on the true origins of the LS-120 drive. Rather than cluttering up this thread with it, I'll just direct anyone who is interested to the "3M LS-120 Beyond the zip" thread, response 42.

The important thing I discovered is that the statement, "the LS-120 technology was developed by Iomega and sold to Compaq," which has been repeated in this forum by me and others, is really not true. At best, it's a gross oversimplification of the facts, and at worst, just flat wrong. I'm a bit embarrassed at having repeated it without checking it out.

Read the whole thing, if you like. (It's kind of long, or I would put a copy here.) I put it up there in an attempt to set the record straight and to improve the overall veracity of this forum.
