...I dont think it makes much sense to go long (aka buy calls) in an oversold market, but you may have noticed differing opinions here. I mentioned VIX just because with same underlyings and sideways market (neither of the the two conditions seems to hold) growing volatility is the one and only way to make money on a straddle. But, as I said several times already (quoting an experienced, down-to-earth gipsy): "There's so many ways you can skin a cat". Wish you luck. dj
