Petz: As for cooling, problems can occur even on a lowly system, like my son's 650 MHz Duron PC. It was booting successfully only every 3rd time it was turned on and I thought the venerable FIC-11 motherboard was dying. But after blowing the wads of dust out of the heatsink, it ran like new again.

Anyone know if VIA's new 1GHz+ enhanced C3 processors require a fan?

I'm actually considering buying one, possibly a PC with VIA's new Mini-iTX specification. Sure, it won't be an extremely powerful PC, but there are several very appealing properties: low noise, integrated Disk on Chip storage (8-32MB flash), integrated ethernet+sound+graphics+TVout, fanless power supply (50W!) and an extremely small form factor (170mm x 170mm ~ 6.7" x 6.7").

The only thing I really lack is TV-In and somewhat better graphics (I'm assuming the integrated VIA graphics aren't going to be up to GF2MX200 levels, much less anything more current). I'm also somewhat apprehensive about the sound&#133 I would really like 5.1 (Dolby Surround) w. SPDIF out, but I'm afraid they'll only offer the standard AC'95 or whatever it's called, which is really quite bad.

I also don't know when systems based on the standard are expected to ship&#133

Btw, Crush12 motherboards have started to become available here in Denmark. They are priced just a tad (~5%) higher than i850 motherboards (from the same company).
