AcSys Biometrics and Graphco Technologies
Provide Security For 'E' Center
BURLINGTON, ON, Nov. 29 /PRNewswire/ - Nexus Group International Inc.'s (NXS:TSE) AcSys Biometrics Corp. and Newton, Pennsylvania-based, Graphco Technologies, Inc. (G-TEC(TM)), are providing security at the hockey venue - the 'E' Center - in West Valley City, a suburb of Salt Lake City, Utah.
AcSys FRS and G-TEC's FaceTrac(TM) technology together will help to secure the 8,400-spectator capacity 'E' Center's access points for men and women's hockey commencing December, 2001. The West Valley City Police Department is responsible for securing the 'E' Center during the upcoming winter games and is using a combination of AcSys FRS and G-TEC's FaceTrac(TM) technologies.
With AcSys FRS as the face recognition system, the issue of privacy is addressed. AcSys FRS does not retain images of people it does not find on a watch list. It does not, therefore, jeopardize an individual's privacy, unless that individual is a security threat. AcSys FRS learns as a human does, and is even better than a human at forgetting what is not relevant. AcSys can fulfill the requirements for "face-in-a-crowd" surveillance, because of its unique ability to track multiple faces at once - up to four faces simultaneously. No other biometric technology is capable of this multiple recognition.
"The tenor has now changed," West Valley City Police Chief Alan Kerstein said. "People want to be comfortable that we are doing everything we can to protect them. A database of known convicts will be built for the Face Recognition System in West Valley City based on files from both local and federal agencies."
AcSys Biometrics is a leading provider of neural technology that is biometric - emulating the analytical processes of the human mind. AcSys owns the exclusive worldwide Holographic/Quantum Neural Technology (HNeT) license for face recognition applications.
FaceTrac(TM) is a broadly featured, readily customized, facial recognition software system that can be deployed across a variety of scalable platforms. FaceTrac(TM) is an open system that can facilitate the use of any facial recognition engine enabling G-TEC to build customized solutions for any application. The system surrounds the entire application in a secure network assuring the user the highest levels of data security while still facilitating remote access.
"We are pleased to provide the West Valley Police Department with a productivity tool that can be a tremendous force multiplier to them in their duty of ensuring the safety of those within the 'E' Center," said Barry Hodge, G-TEC's vice president of sales and marketing. "It is also, of course, a great opportunity to showcase AcSys FRS and G-TEC's FaceTrac(TM) advanced technologies."
"AcSys FRS and G-TEC are a formidable team and are proud to be demonstrating our combined technologies at the 'E' center near Salt Lake City, Utah," said Jerry Janik, president and C.E.O.
G-TEC (www.graphcotech.com) is an advanced technology and systems company focused on being a leading provider of secure access, biometric identification, surveillance and secure data hosting solutions.
