It is sad if you think of it in a way that in a decent progressive society, a few prejudiced individuals undermine the efforts of the majority.... but... from the point of view someone like your friend a known enemy is lesser evil than an unknown enemy... or words to that effect... there is comfort in knowing what the future has in store...human mind is conditioned and braces/prepares for it.....and charts out a course of life which avoids things that may create uncertainty or trauma in our lives. Unexpected traumas are always harder to bear....they create panic...and sense of losing control. JMHO of course. I accept that not everyone is built to think that way....and some would rather choose to fight....which is a noble thing to do i agree. But eventually, most get tired of fighting against the system... Did I hear there is a renewed attempt towards racial segregation at schools....?
