frank,

Policy is shaped by insularity and ignorance - Rice, Bush's security adviser didn't even know what US's largest trading partner is. What other gaps might there be in her knowledge?

Mind your manners. small p provincialism can be quite blissfull.

The US is a pain in the ass to a lot of folk (us Canadians know it) but as countries go, it's not bad and it's the world's only super power right now and they're starting to get it. We can't get too fussed about their plentiful past errors. What we have to be clear about is what they're doing today.

Let me be perfectly clear. America is fighting many wars and on many fronts. WRT to the economic war being waged upon Canada, on the timber front, America has brought lumber producers to their knees with unfair tarrifs. Mill closures and the resultant mass unemployment have devastated British Columbia. Its about time Canada fullfilled its destiny as blue eyed arabs and respond ASAP, now that the Arctic front is slipping south, with a US$5.00/mcf surcharge on non renewable natural gas exports. Rice isn't alone in her igonorance on the fact that Canada is America's largest trading partner:-))
