Here is the REAL problem with any sort of flat tax at the register. This would give POWER to the people. When the economy went down the shitter the feds would be paid accordingly. If we wanted to revolt against high tax rates we would have a certain degree of control based on what we spend. Imagine....a government held accountable for what we are dealing with right now. Don't kid yourself people - the Govt. does not want to disclose how much we really pay per dollar and they don't want to hand the taxpayers the big stick in terms of control.
