squetch, first thanks for posting. I am not sure of the context of your quote (was it in the release biowa just posted? or some other one?). Being *pseudo* I'll take a crack anyway.

First, I think that *disrupting the signal* could help stop deposits, etc. Presumably, some signalling process (perhaps by overproduction of some extracellular ligand) is running amok and leading to cells secreting components that accumulate in "deposits" Thus, interfering with the appropriate signal may ultimately help stop "deposits" Of course, this is very general - do you have a url for the full release from which you are taking the quote? do they mention "deposits" there?
