I posted on LG's board a few weeks ago the speculation that Greenspan is pulling out the stops behind the scenes to prop up the market during the x-mas retail season. If the market was tanking now it probably would depress x-mas sales more. Since institutions need a healthy economy for core businesses such as IPOs it would make sense for them to go along.
