Hi everyone,

As some of you know, with in my own house we have struggled with medical issues. My husband has been diabetic for more than half his life. Since he was 17 years old.

Earlier this week I spoke with one of his doctors about the results of a kidney sonogram that was done a month or so ago, and the results had not been in last time we spoke. When I was talking to the doctor, his exact quote was, "for as young as your husband is, the diabetes has really taken a toll on his body."

After the sonogram was done, we had gone to see the kidney specialist (who also had not yet gotten the results of the sonogram) Based on the other test results they had for my husband from blood work. The doctor told us that Mike's kidney function is deteriorating. He told us that he wanted to see Mike back in January. Then the doctor really rocked the boat when he told us, at that time we would discuss "the options." Those options being, dialysis and getting Mike put on the kidney transplant waiting list. I kept hoping/praying that being that the results of the sonogram were not back yet, that the test would disprove what the doctor was saying. Earlier in the week the doctor told me that he recalled seeing the sonogram and did not recall anything abnormal. I ask him a few questions about what the Kidney doctor had explained to us. Specifically I ask him, about the "average" rate of kidney failure once the deterioration has started. Unfortunately he confirmed my math skills are correct, when I figured that based on averages, my husbands kidney function will be down to 25% within a years time. I told him I was hoping he was going to tell me I should have failed math.
Today when I spoke with the kidney doctor, he confirmed that the sonogram showed no problems with the structure of Mike's kidneys. There are no tumors, polyps or blockage, BUT as good as that sounds, it does not change the fact that the kidney function is deteriorating.

Please pray.....

Jane
