DH,

<< The Taliwhackers asses have been completely, and totally handed to them in a mere 2 weeks. >>

From a logical standpoint you cannot conclude that this event was caused by bombing just because bombing preceded it. That is a post hoc ergo propter hoc reasoning fallacy. The Talibean rout also occurred after I changed the oil in my car..... can I claim a causal relationship there?

<< Afganistan is now an example of how precise bombing can be decisive militarially. >>

I don't buy that. Four weeks of "precise bombing" did not result in the Talibeans doing anything other than sitting tight, suffering sparse casualties, and mouthing off. At the end of those four weeks, Afghanistan was just as much under their control as at the start. But then troops started moving, NA with US support (initially on horseback.... must have been high-tech precision-guided horses, of course). And that is when the Talibean rout began.

I still think that the high-tech precise targeting show is far more oooooh! aaaahhh! for the hometown crowd and a morale builder for the troops, but that is not to say it has no effect at all. Call me a conservative, old-fashioned low-tech dinosaur if you will, but I have still seen nothing to make me disagree with Colin Powell and especially Swartzkopf's view: "The purpose of bombing is to prepare the battlefield."

BWDIK......
