I heard that they can be used to purchase items from appropriately equipped vending machines - with billing being updated to the Cell Phone owners account > DoCoMo phones had been on the market for barely ten days when I was in Japan. I walked into a show room in a small town for a demo, but unfortunately none of the sales staff spoke any English and I did not get a feel for the capabilities. I saw a demo of two kids playing a computer game with each other over the 3G phone. I saw an ad of a 3G phone with a built in video camera. You have the capability to see the caller, or to see whatever the caller is looking at. Video conferencing, and all in a 3.5" x 2" x 0.5" package. In any case the 3G technology will open up all kinds of new applications, and unfortunately USA will be a latecomer to this brave new world. The Japanese teenagers are embracing the brave new world, and are now going to be at the cutting edge of new technology,
