CONTINENTAL MINERALS CORP and DOUBLESTAR RESOURCES LTD Doublestar has terminated its earn-in option with Continental Minerals with respect to the Copper Star property near Smithers, B.C., following the completion of nine drillholes (1,581.5 m). Although anomalous values of copper were discovered in all holes, only one hole contained significant copper values (123 m averaging 0.26% Cu from 47.5 m to 170.4 m including a 3.1 m section that ran 1.17% Cu. This hole targeted the source of the largest and strongest of the IP anomalies. In all, four IP anomalies were drilled and all contained abundant pyrite mineralization, which accounted for the strong IP responses. While the program has not eliminated the potential for discovery of better grades of porphyry-copper mineralization, it has reduced the likelihood of such discovery in the size required for mine potential according to Doublestar. Doublestar Resources Ltd - News Release
Doublestar terminates Copper Star earn-in agreement
Doublestar Resources Ltd DSR Shares issued 11,709,279Nov 28 2001 close $.210 Thursday Nov 29 2001 News Release Mr. Alan Savage of Doublestar Resources reports Doublestar Resources has completed a diamond drill program on the Copper Star porphyry copper-project located 60 kilometres south of Smithers, B.C. Diamond drilling was carried out by Britton Brothers Diamond Drilling of Smithers, B.C. and supervised by Doublestar vice-president, exploration, Nils von Fersen, PGeo. The drilling was conducted from Oct. 1, 2001, through Oct. 19, 2001, with nine NQ-sized drill holes completed (total 1,581.53 metres). The Copper Star project is subject to an option from its owners in favour of Continental Minerals Corporation (Continental). Doublestar's program was in connection with an earn-in agreement whereby Doublestar could earn a 50-per-cent interest in the Continental option. Although anomalous values of copper were discovered in all holes, only one hole (CS-07) contained significant copper values (122.88 metres averaging 0.26 per cent Cu from 47.5 metres to 170.38 metres). A 3.09-metre section from 47.5 metre to 50.59 metre within hole CS-07 assayed 1.17 per cent copper. This hole was drilled to 200.8 metres total depth (azimuth at 150 degree dip -60 and was located in the largest and strongest of the induced polarization geophysical anomalies, which were being tested by the program. In all, four IP anomalies were drilled and all contained abundant pyrite mineralization, which accounted for the strong IP responses. While the program has not eliminated the potential for discovery of better grades of porphyry-copper mineralization, it has reduced the likelihood of such discovery in the size required for mine potential. Accordingly, Doublestar has advised Continental that it will terminate the earn-in agreement. Sample preparation and analytical work was carried out by Bondar Clegg Canada Limited. Samples were split on approximately three-metre intervals and subjected to Aqua Regia dissolution and analyzed for 34 elements by ICP. Results in excess of 10,000 parts per million Cu were treated by total acid digestion and ICP finish. Every 10th sample was analyzed by Fire Assay for gold values in all holes except hole CS-01, where every fifth sample was analyzed for gold. Quality control was maintained by the introduction of one analytical blank, and one duplicate sample per 20 analyses.
