That has been addressed--when anybody comes in with pneumonia like symptoms their blood is tested for bacteria, and the rod shaped bacilli would show up, so it's unlikely to be missed in most cases. Once rod shaped bacilli show up they'd test further to see what it was. For instance they had gone back to hospital records of about 20 or so people in CT to see if any were missed--but they weren't.

That's an intresting idea about the doc but he never dealt with anthrax, only with bad viruses. That hypothesis was from greenpeace--not an organization I'd trust on this stuff. They may do good work, but they don't have good leads on bioterrorism.
