biz.yahoo.com
AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 30, 2001--Emerson Process Management has been awarded a contract by Esso Exploration Angola (Block 15) Limited, a subsidiary of ExxonMobil Corporation, for the development and installation of the control, instrumentation and safety systems needed by Esso for the Kizomba A project offshore Angola.

The Kizomba A Project offshore Angola will develop reserves of the Hungo and Chocalho discoveries located in approximately 1,000 to 1,275 meters (3300-4,200 feet) water depth. Emerson Process Management is a business of Emerson (NYSE:EMR).

Leveraging its expertise in asset management consulting, engineering and services, Emerson will be the Main Instrument and Controls Contractor (MICC) for the first planned Esso Angola Block 15 offshore oil project. Under the Main Instrumentation and Controls Contract process, total instrumentation and control responsibility is assigned to a single solutions provider, an approach that delivers high-quality automation solutions in minimum time and with uniform standards.

Emerson will lead control and safety system detailed design, engineering services, procurement, integration, testing, startup and commissioning. Emerson will integrate an array of its field devices and those from other suppliers.

``We know Esso as a global, advanced company with operations that demand the best combination of project management and engineering plus technology, and we are truly delighted to be awarded this project,'' said John Berra, executive vice president of Emerson with responsibility for the process management business. ``This project enables us to demonstrate the full services capabilities of our organization, and to also implement our vision of an information-rich operation based on our open, standards-based PlantWeb architecture.''

Emerson experts will integrate key elements of the Kizomba Project development that include:

A floating production storage and offloading vessel. The vessel will be approximately 1,000 ft. in length and have the capacity to store more than 2 million barrels of processed crude oil. It will be equipped with a gas turbine power source, production facilities and utilities.
A surface wellhead platform and related facilities.
An offloading buoy for transferring processed crude to shuttle tankers.
Subsea production systems with interconnecting umbilicals, risers and flow lines.
