I don't think CUBE can make more than $55 million this quarter even though they said $70 million. That pre-announcement was really early and whether they could have made an accurate assessment of the quarter is hard to know. Indeed, ESS made an announcement and I have spoken to some people and have a good grasp of the problems the company faced and potentially faces in the video decoding market. However, 43% of CUBE's revenues come from VCD. That was approximately $40 million in the old days. Couple with no DVD and slower than expected DBS, could the 20% revenue shortfall have been a little too bullish...??? How plausible is a $15 million total revenue shortfall attributed to VCD -- a market that is sucking rotten eggs due to aggressive pricing pressures. It's all going to depend on the outlook, I guess.
