elmatador, "Cloning" i-mode is the way to go? Not cloning but learning from it, I would say. One such lesson is that services/content is more important than speed. GPRS being packet and always-on will be perfect for messaging regardless of speed. I believe the new 7650 will take-off like a rocket. I can see all the kids going to partys and other events, driving everyone crazy (just as with SMS now) taking pictures all the time and sending them to their absent friends. I don't think the speed is crucial here -other than for network capacity. For years I have received live color photos from cameras connected (via infrared link) to the Communicator. The time needed to be online on the old GSM datasystem (9.6Kbs ) was less than a minute or so per photo, I'm told. It can be a pretty overwhelming experience sometimes, depending what the photo is about, to get a "live" photo from Europe when you're sitting in front of your computer in the U.S. It may well be a the killer app for GPRS, in itself. So, not that it couldn't be done before but the 7650 will be the "portal" to GPRS for many. And then of course content, content, content from the net, the telco, NOK. |
