Amein,
If you don't understand my objection to the writer, I'm not sure I could explain myself any other way. I have explained my objections a number of times, and I can't get it across to you! So I guess we have to leave it at that!
You said, "this "not wanting to accept" is what makes someone like me question the ulterior motives of the other person... in this case, you... for they translate basically to one of two things... (1) that you truly do not like the Qur'an one bit, hence unable to look at it with an unbiased view, and simply do not want to accept any explanation of it other than what makes ugly (2) you simply want to cast some shadows over any given explanation."
Incorrect! And you said I might not necessarily fit into either one, and I don't! Please understand, and I have people in my family that are very young, and do not want them to have to face the terrorism we saw on Sept. 11th, or worse! I would love for the Qu'ran not to preach violence and am asking any one for a valid explanation of the apparent violent verses, and hope one day someone could give me a good one. But your writer does not! It seems good to you, but as I said before it lacks logic, and even is contradictory! That's clear to me! But I guess you can't see it! And that's OK! I'm not here to knock you over the head with a baseball bat! Just to get an non-violent explanation of Qu'ranic verses, specifically 2:191 and others! Will have to leave this one, to agree to disagree on it. Is that OK?
But lets go on to 9:5.8, being its very similar to 2:191! I'll post both of them for comparision sake:
9:5.8 So when the sacred months have passed away, then slay the idolaters wherever you find them, and take them captives and besiege them and lie in wait for them in every ambush, then if they repent and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, leave their way free to them; surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
2:191 And slay them wherever ye find them, and drive them out of the places whence they drove you out, for persecution is worse than slaughter. And fight not with them at the Inviolable Place of Worship until they first attack you there, but if they attack you (there) then slay them. Such is the reward of disbelievers.
Can you explain 9:5.8 for me, please?
Thanks, IGIT |
