<<Shuttering bankrupt high-speed Internet service ExciteAtHome Corp. (OTC BB:ATHMQ.OB - news) could be a big blow to the deployment of the service, Federal Communications Commission Chairman Michael Powell said on Friday.>>

I TOTALLY AGREE...I have been using the @Home cable-modem Internet service here in Chicago for the last year...I have heard I may lose the service tonight. It would force me to resort to using my back-up method for getting online (AOL's dial-up service which is less than ideal). I think the FCC and the Federal Government should step in and prevent the @Home network from going down...There are at least 4 million paying customers across the country (and some of them are small businesses and schools)...they should have time to make appropriate arrangements to secure another source of broadband access....I'm not overly concerned about the ExciteAtHome BondHolders and I sure hope that AT&T Broadband can purchase the network ASAP. Oh well, I may lose service within the next few hours...=)
