Paul, Tom, et al:

Within the last two years they have opened two malls here in Columbus, Ohio. Classic case of overbuilding. The downtown mall has more than 20 storefronts boarded up. I am told one food joint whose lease was up was offered a 10 year lease with a hefty bump in the rent. They opted to leave. Also, a clerk at the newest mall said traffic had slowed a bit.

Obviously only anecdotal evidence but my gut says retailers get their lunch handed to them this year.
