By sitting quietly and closing one eye, a person can now easily picture a battered Dell with torn clothes mended, wounds reduced to minor scars, improved stature, and increased confidence...
3 mos Dell + 33% , Nas +6.5%
6 mos Dell+16%, Nas -10%
1 yr Dell +50%. Nas -22%
At $28 Dell has much reduced exposure to those awful puts, which frees up the billions in working capital.
The economy is uncertain, but as soon as it stabilizes(sometime in the next 3 to 6 months) I think Michael will put that capital to better use with investments to improve earnings.
Five bil invested at 20% would be ahhhhhhhhh 40 cents/sh/yr or 10 cents /qtr , giving 25 cents earnings versus present 15 cents But we dont need that much, 4.5 cents extra a share would blow away the the analysts
estimates and head us back toward $50.
I think Dell will confine future stock buyback to just enough to cover options grants.
