Hi Dave,

Better to be up on your Bob if you talk to Canuck Dave or marcos :o)
Speaking of Tech, does anyone seriously believe we'll get another Telcom buildout or surge in PC demand to match that of the last 10 years?

Nope. From usagold.com (I know goldbuggy)
Chronic under investment in the resource and basic commodity sector coincided with excessive investment in technology, media and telecommunications. Both conditions will take many years to correct. Investors looking for attractive returns in the winners of the
past five years will be sorely disappointed. Manic excesses take decades to unwind, as was the case for the hard asset boom fostered in the 1970's. In the frenzy of an investment bubble, mistakes are made that take years to discover and even more to work
out. The new economy is a bust, and will stay busted for the investment time horizons of most. The real excitement will be in the revival of the old economy.

I don't know about 'decades' here as some new technology will likely come along to obsolesce the current mothballed buildup but it'll be awhile.Current technology seems to have has made the downward leap to commodity status.

As a point of reference: I have a good weighting in gassy hedged energy trusts (of course ENE may make that less than hoped for), a good position in assorted PM's gold and silver, some dollar hedges (bond fund in other currencies than US) and I am looking at companies that are paying a good dividend yield and which will be able to continue to do so. I'm planning for a drop and then long sideways market where I can trade a bit but dividends will make the difference.
