Addi,

You are one pessimistic and bitter soul!

Perhaps you need to read my post a little more carefully. The main point I am trying to make is this:

1. The Koran is not much different than the old testament in the references to violence and bloodshed.
2. There was a phase in all three religions when violence and bloodshed (lets use v&b for short) was practiced.
3. Other religions have distanced themselves from v&b in the name of religion even though the scriptures have not changed.
4. There is no chance that Muslims will re-write the Koran.
5. The only way Muslims can and should abandon v&b is by accepting the interpretation of the Koran that promotes understanding and peace, and objecting to v&b.
6. Mullahs, Imams etc. are the religious leaders that must bear the responsibility for this interpretation. Whether they accept this responsibility throughout the Muslim world is a different question.

I think that the educated and civilized Muslims must work hard to influence these religious leaders to live up to this responsibility. As long as Mullahs etc. continue to preach murder in the name of Koran, we shall continue to face terror.

This is my unbiased opinion and you are welcome to accept it.
