He's making an awful lot of assumptions, but I don't think that the part about petty politics getting in the way of decisively handling the situation holds water. 9/11 was an attack of such a scale that I doubt that the country wouldn't have been behind whichever administration was in office, and that is finally something that really counts. Look at it this way - Chomsky and his ilk are busy bashing the US. And so? They're irrelevant to the outcome. Had Gore been in, some extreme right wingnuts would have made some noise and wind, but it wouldn't matter either. One has to wonder though about the so-called strategic brilliance of OBL. What an idea! Launch a terrorist attack with a republican administration at the helm, given what happened to Saddam at the hands of Bush senior... LOL! Now Jimmy Carter during this event, that's a scary thought! :-)
