Nita is in a safe left wing district and can engage in guerilla attacks at no cost. The Dems still have to feel for an opposition position that they can go into 2002 on, and economics offers the best opportunity (and yes, I think they will lose badly on it). As for the Republicans, I think the story here is written by a Carville fan, but I'd sure like to see some assurance that they are NOT offended, and will NOT stand around and "huff". That makes them look like losers-and some Republicans in Washington most assuredly ARE losers. This is where the war is fought. They need to show a counterattack plan. They need to show an attitude that recognizes that both the Nita Loweys and the East Coast media are the enemies to be confronted and defeated. I detest Carville and Begala for the cheap third-world type propagandists that they are. But I respect them for their effectiveness. It's time for the Republicans to learn to fight on the battlefield in front of them. If Trent Lott is really "offended" by Nita Lowey's tactics, then, as Carville might say, "F--k him, and the horse he rode in on!"...
