wbmw, dude, the guy is the CIO, he MAKES the decisions. The only fight he is fighting is his subordinates' ignorance who have been buying Dell for as long as I can remember. His Boss ( Corporate CIO ) is not really into micromanaging every subsidiary. What you are describing is the mentality "no one ever got fired for buying <insert huge brand here>". That used to be IBM, Microsoft, Sun, and more recently Intel. The same goes in every industry. For example, in Databases, it's Oracle. My personal feeling is that when that's the only thing that's keeping the status quo a change is imminent. C
