Tejek Re ...The Republicans are claiming precedent for these actions, and Bush was on tv yesterday insisting that the military tribunals be put in place. Frankly, I don't like their attitude, let alone the actions in question. <<<<<<<<<<
Of course not. You are a Dem.

You know that I am not a Dem.

and we all know the dems are in the pocket of the Bar Ass.

This is where it gets stupid and I stop posting.

The Rep. attorney claimed that innocent people will not be hurt but that's not true. Already where I live, the feds came in and closed a man's business down...he is Arab/American..claiming the business was money laundering for the terrorists. <<<<<<<<<<

Are you claiming that the FBI has no right to question people about whether they were involved.

Question...yes; close down a person's business indefinitely on flimsy information...no.

Secondly, businesses are shut down during a lot of investigations.

No, they are not....up until 9/11 its been a fairly rare event.

Turns out that that was not true; however, the man has had his business shut for over a month and his character questioned. <<<<<<<

His character was questioned??????? You make it sound so unpatriotic, when in fact, it is precisely the method which must be used to find out the facts; you investigate and question people.

The man's business was closed down; it was in the papers on at least two occasions that illegal activities were in operation in his place. By the time they got done with him, it sounded as if the guy was second in command in to bin Laden. I can guarantee you the guy will not win " the businessman of the year" award for 2002. People always seem to hear the accusation and miss the pardon.

Once again, the FBI proved to be wrong. So it wasn't unpatriotic, it was libelous.

<<<<<<<Sometimes I think there is an effort to scare the American people so that we will allow certain of our freedoms to be curtailed.<<<<<<<<<<

What freedoms can't be curtailed now? The only freedom this takes away, is the right of the lawyers to waste yrs of your life, and take all of your money.

Right, they saved this guy tons of money. His right to conduct business was denied him for over a month, but that's okay...he's Arab American...they don't have the same rights as the rest of us. We know that the new revisions to our laws like wire tapping will be used only against Arab Americans. In fact, our freedoms have not been curtailed at all....what was I thinking.

If you are worried about being scared; consider this. Terrorism has the ability to completely decimate our economy.

Fear will destroy this country and its economy long before terrorism has the opportunity. I worry about the terrorists and what they will do next; I am afraid of what we will do to ourselves in the name of terrorism.

EDIT. If you want to discuss this further, lets take it to the other thread.
