If you read all his posts, you'll see he refuses to predict. He determines the trend and then plays until the trend turns. Never short, only long.

As far as going short, all got say is be careful, if we start breaking some the resistance lines it could draw more money into the market.

There's plenty of factors that favor both bull and bear camps.

Bulls:

1. Increasing short interest
2. Underweight tech in mutual funds
3. Taliban starting fall apart
4. Still the season to be jolly
5. Low fuel prices
6. Fed liquidity pump
7. Another rate cut in December

Bears:

1. VIX, VXN approaching their lows.
2. Another Enron waiting to happen? Is there derivitive risk from short rates at 2%?
3. Does Al Quida have any more tricks up it's sleave?
4. How will a global, business led recession affect are recovery?
5. Have all the excesses from the credit bubble-tech bubble been wrung out?

There's probably more...

My point is, this market could move in either direction.
