only a few months ago we kicked out the socialists,

What? You mean the "invisible hand" is going th have to stop playing pocket pool and actually do something?

The change cannot be instant even in the absence of US government threat

And now we get to the crux of the issue. You are finally admitting that something has to change in Canada with the way those socialists have created their own little political fiefdoms by doling out subsidies to their favored industries...

Basically, it sounds as if you have just capitulated completely and are now pleading for mercy from the US.

Well Marcos... the US has been pleading with your "socialists" to change the status quo for years now. And it required direct US government tariffs on Canadian forest products to wake you guys up to the reality.

And that reality is that we don't mind economically
partying" with you all, but when you start peeing in our pool, we're going to take some umbrage and eventually threaten to kick you out.

With that, I would think their is no longer any purpose debating you on the issue, nor any reason for you to continue your venomous diatribes against the US.

I'm sure this is all going to be worked out amicably. This is nothing more than a neighborhood spat between long-term friends. It will get worked out, workers will be retrained, and life will go on.
