Yes, I believe more today in WLAN than I did then. But on the voice side I am still where I was when we last discussed the issue.

Mainly that it is not worth port PABX applications to LANs. I think voice (PABX's and 0800) will have to stay where they are.

But some voice is already being ported to the Internet as is the case of Internet Banking: Bradesco Internet banking already boasts 1.8 million customers, and is adding up to 3,000 new customers per day.

Since most users are connected to the Internet via dial up, when they need assitance form the bank, they have to disconnect. This proved not possible. So the bank now offers for the clients -for download for free- one web phone application that allows the customer to talk over the computer (with microphone and head phones and remain connected to the Internet via it dial up öline.

It is around this kind of smnall Internet phone applications that VOIP will evolve. But American Airlines and the Chase Manhattan bank PABXs those will continue over the fixed line telephony over SS7.
