Robert, you must set up shorting privileges with your broker. After you fill out the right forms and get approved you will have the ability to short.

Then, call you broker and ask to short x number of shares. You need to have sufficient cash or margin to cover it. You shouldn't short without a lot of study first. Your losses are theoretically infinite while your gain is limited (if the stock goes to zero you are still making less than if you owned something that tripled, for example).

The benefit of shorting for me must be EXTREME CERTAINTY.

Net Nanny will peter out, and fairly soon. It's pretty obvious in watching the action. It's getting tired and volume is heavy. And of course, in spite of their apparent potential, they are still one amongst many software companies with hardly any sales, just like Jot-It. Hardly Netscape material!

Unfortunately I just shorted Viasoft at $52.50 so have no funds to short Net Nanny at the moment.
