Re: hydro electric not so green... I was just recently reading about the effects of large dams, and not just for hydro electric power. They are a big-time ecological problem in fact, when all the unpleasant side effects are factored in. Moreover, huge numbers of people have been displaced from their native land for their construction, and many people have been killed or made homeless refugees by dam overflows, particularly with the climatic changes we've been experiencing of late. I may be mistaken, but 19% of the world's electricity is hydro, and China has over half the worlds dams (mostly for irrigation) many which are sorely in need of repair. I believe there's some kind of moratorium on new dam construction for these reasons, but haven't searched the web for references yet. I think nuclear power based on fusion is our only real hope longer term.
