Regarding Nita Lowey, we all know she's playing to her district, which is one of the great embarrassments of our nation. The real America was just starting to get a positive and forgiving attitude toward NYC, and Nita might have considered that before opening her far-too-active mouth. But that's between her and her district.
Regarding economics and patriotism, there's really no connection at all. The American left clings to the long debunked Marxist socialism not because they believe it will bring the country down, but because they are indifferent to that prospect. Their goal is a weak private sector and strong public one, with liberal politicians and interest groups made prosperous through the increased power of government. The opposite, conservative view, is that wealth creation can ONLY occur in the private sector, which must be kept strong through limited government power. The vehicle to a dominant private sector, with the maximization and preservation of liberty, is limited taxation, minimal regulation (fiat, unaccountable government power) and a stable system of civil law that disallows piracy (the Plaintiffs' Bar). The impoverishment of the nation by the prevalence of liberal power and policy is not an act of treason. It does, however, lead to a self-adjusting process, as seen in the elections of 1980 and 1994. It would be nice to do it without the disaster this time... |
