Hi Suresh,

I went to the malls this weekend. It was actually pretty quiet, but it is early days yet. The foot traffic on the streets actually seemed lighter than normal. I did see a lot of early discounting though. There were signs for 25 to 30 percent off, and this is supposed to be the biggest selling time of the year for retailers. I don't think things are going to be all that bright for the retailers.

On the DVD front, in this part of the country the DVD section is now 50 percent of the retail space in most video stories. Vancouver actually has the lowest DVD and CD prices in North America because of the intense competition here. CD are about $13 and DVD's $22. I saw DVD players for as low as $149.
