Dan, <<<The news that AMD has had parts running 3.3 times as fast as Intel's "terahertz" transistors in their development facilities pretty much confirms that Intel missed the boat on SOI.>>>

Most people reading this thread know your agenda and will consider your posts for what it is worth. But there just may be some innocents trying to do some of their own DD and get persuaded by your announcements and invest some of their kids education or their own retirement investment into AMD and end up having this investment going sideways for the next 15 to 30 years as it has over the last 30 years. Instead, they could have invested this amount into some money market or bond fund and get some returns.

If you really believed in AMD and invest your own money into the company, that would be one thing, but what you are doing is not right.

In any case, whatever AMD is doing with SOI is not going to effect Intel very much, one way or the other. SOI is not like some secret sauce and once you get it right, the competition is in the hole and can not catch up.

It is more like going into space for the old Soviet Union. They could spend a whole bunch of money going into space at the expense of spending that would help their society and once the US has seen what they have done (the society or organization with more resources), it is a relatively short time that they would need to throw some money at it and outspend the resource poor country/company and take over the benefits of going into that direction.

AMD can not win this race in this manner.

Mary

Disclaimer: I am not against AMD winning in a fair and square manner. I am not opposed to making money by investing in AMD if they came up with a better mousetrap and can bring it to market. But, don't give me this fake rah, rah stuff.
