I can read koine Greek somewhat, yes.(Haven't done it for awhile, though). Even if what you say about the New Testament were true, and I am not denying it, all it would mean would be that no one knows the actual Jesus. The only objective standard we have is the Jesus presented by the Church. If we do not credit that Jesus as being true, then we have.....nothing. We can pick and choose what we want from the Gospels, of course, but why? Because Jesus was a neat guy, who said wise things? A Christian believes that Jesus was a singular manifestation of God, at a minimum. What kind of manifestation is it when we can pretty much invent our own depending upon which Dominical sayings we find congenial: "Forgive your brother seventy times seven" passes, but "I came not to bring peace, but the sword" fails?
