I agree. How sad this is. The billions of dollars flowing down the drain for weapons, instead of schools, roads, industry, health,... etc.
After Oslo, Israel showed good will by monthly payments to the Palestinians of hundreds of millions of dollars, supplying the Palestinian police with weapons, and turning over land, all in exchange for the Palestinian promise not to kill Jews.
That was a good start. I was against the Oslo agreement because Israel was doing all the giving and, obviously, had no guarantees of peace and security from the Palestinians.
After Oslo, the Palestinian economy improved and the Palestinians were living more prosperous lives. There was great promise. The next step could have been great!
But, then the terror attacks picked up, forcing Israel to close the borders and impose stronger safeguards against the Palestinians.
The Palestinians didn't close their borders because of terror attacks from Israel against Palestinian pizza parlors, or teenage dances, or buses. Israel had to close their borders in an attempt to keep Palestinian terrorists out of Israel.
One has to look at the motivation of the Palestinians. Do they really want peace and prosperity, living side by side with Israel, or do they just simply want all Jews dead? |
