If you are able to read the Bible in the original languages then you will no doubt
attest to the fidelity that English translations of the bible have to the original
documents.

Which translations? They differ, sometimes in significant ways, sometimes only in voice. And Catholic and Protestant translations differ. So fidelity is a very difficult thing. Plus we really don't know how the Greeks construed some of their terms. Heck, we can't even understand Chaucerian English very well, and that was only about 500 years ago. How can we expect to understand clearly a languge 2000 years old which hasn't been spoken in its ancient form for well over a thousand years, and which contained concepts which we simply don't have? (For example, there is NO adequate translation of eidos. Just for starters. Nor do we have adequate terms to translate the various terms the Greeks used for love, one of the most basic human emotions.)

I'm not going to get into Biblical translation any futher than that here on SI, sorry I got sucked in even that much. But as to fidelity of translations, even the experts disagree. And I am no expert.

The Bible is an accurate historical document that cannot be so easily dismissed.

I don't dismiss it. I do recognize that it was written for specific purposes, and some of its contents were never meant to be taken literally.
