Ukraine to supply 2m gas masks to USA BBC Monitoring Service - United Kingdom; Dec 3, 2001 Text of report by Ukrainian television on 3 December Ukraine will supply 2m gas masks to the United States, [Ukrainian web site] Defense-Express said citing sources in the Cherkasy chemical fibre factory where gas masks are produced. The USA displayed interest in Ukrainian gas masks right after the 11 September terrorist attacks. The USA will pay 20 dollars for each mask, so Ukraine will earn nearly 40m dollars. The price of one gas mask in Ukraine is 38 hryvnyas, or about 7.2 dollars, the source said. The contract must be implemented by May 2002.
