Just a little observation--through all this hoopla about what the Feelings thread was meant to be and how worthless it (and we)have become-no one has mentioned that Alexa's original post appeared, not on Feelings, but here on XXXXX-a thread that she and I had pulled from thread mothballs and revived as a calm, non-threatening place to come talk about children, our lives and OUR feelings when things got so strange on Feelings-we had no lofty aspirations for it-nor did we pretend it was an intellectual haven. When we did this, we intentionally created an environment in which we felt comfortable --(what I guess would appear to be an elitist heaven). Do you remember we established a dress code, we brought in antiques, we played classical music, we had champagne parties, there was even a servant's entrance! It was here that durian was introduced and was fermented in the hottub. Here that Thomas and I began our fantasy excursions. Here that Bleonard the Benign Barracuda, the Fertile Fishie, became a household word. Here I believe that the Coven actually was born. And looking back over the last few months, Feelings has not been such a barren place, quieter at times as we move back and forth between here and there, but still viable--we had that huge battle on welfare, on free speech, and other issues certainly have come and gone.
Anyway, it was Christine who threadnapped Alexa to Feelings with her response and actually should be happy with the results. Wasn't that the goal? Heated discussion? presentation of differing viewpoints?
It just bothered me that no one noticed that the whole damn thing started here and had nothing to do with the perceived deterioration of Feelies. |
