how did you feel when talking with him? I mean, from your description he's basically a professional in this area, and you're a smart amateur. Listening to him, and reflecting on what he was saying, did you come away thinking, "I shouldn't even be trying this," or "hey, I can do this!"
I came away feeling that I could pick some good companies, based on GG, but that I didn't have an adequate sense of :
1. Valuation techniques 2. A clearly delineated "exit" strategy, beyond LTB&H as long as the fundamentals don't change significantly for the company.
I'll need to work on these, but don't expect to get them within the next year. Too many other priorities. I should also be reminded that this software analyst looks for 20-30% minimum growth amongst his investments, so that Main Street companies don't entice him. Also, he is self-employed and this is his Day job.......a pretty nice set-up, in terms of being able to concentrate on his investments.
