gda: The only person I know (so far) who understands Hadith is Amein Alsuezi (the originator of "Islam the Message) thread who has blocked me and many others to post on his thread. Therefore if you have not been blocked yet by him, you may also want to post your question on his thread and ask him the same question as I am sure he would be more than happy to provide a respond. Here is a sample of what Amein provided as a response to the question about the following statement in Hadith: "The witness of a woman is equal to half of that of a man because of the deficiency of the woman's mind" Hadith vol. 3:826 The response Amein provided was that basically Mohammad said that because Women apparently forget things easily and that they need another woman as a backup to remind them of what the other woman may forget (please see his explanation)! Message 16441409 And I quote the explanations provided in the above post: "here is the reasoning behind having to have 2 women instead of one man... the verses in Quran add that "so that if one of them (of the women that is) forgets, the other shall remind her" ... and guess what, modern day medical research has shown that women are more prone to being forgetful than men... I am sorry that I don't have the article that was published by a renowned researcher... a woman nevertheless... but I am sure if one searches for it, he / she will find it..." Of course he never tried to do the search himself to provide the article talking about women forgetting things so easily, but I am sure it could have been beacause he uses dial up modem and things can really be slow when finding things on the internet!! :) So with all means please go ahead and ask your question on Martyrs on Amein's "Islam the message" thread also, and I am sure the response will be logical, reasonable and as always it would make perfect sense (just like the contents of the book of Hadith)! The answers to the contents of Hadith are as logical as the contents themselves! In computer science there is a phrase used so often when describing the input and output data flow of a system architecture. The phrase used so often is: "Gurbage in, gurbage out"! Regards, - Addi
