This week in Value Line my favorite screen pointed directly to one specific industry. Page 33 of the Index section has the "Best and Worst Performers" for the last 13 weeks shown in a table of 41 stocks in each category. Generally when I see the Worst list containing a statistically significant number of companies from one industry it rings loud bells of Over Sold.

This time it's the Air Transportation group.

This group as a whole hasn't been exactly stellar in earning money even at the best of times. So please exercise caution when evaluating the individual issues. However, because they are all so far out of favor right now, they do at least deserve special study.

I consider seven stocks out of a list of 41 to be a pretty good indicator of serious over-selling/shorting or whatever. Certainly there's reasons for the drop, but we now need to study them as potential business investments for the future.
