Listened to a half hour interview of a family friend who said all the things you would expect......he's the most honest and non-violent person you'd want to meet. The kid went to the ME at 16 or so, before his parents separation. Tried to liken it to Patty Hearst and the SLA. A telling issue is a series of "uncomfortable" e-mails between the kid and his dad that show the kid was prone to blame the US and side with the Arabs in the Cole bombing in Yemem (so he will have trouble denying he knew of Osama and Al-Queda's hatred for US). His parents were Catholic and said he had an early interest in spiritual matters and they did not discourage his interest in Islam or anything else. They originally lived in Md and moved to SF. I would only comment if he was an American citizen he could likely be tried for treason. I bet he wants his mommy now and in his shoes I couldn't blame him
