of course I do! they have no reason not to, and every reason to do so. simply gaining a foothold - less than 2% of the market - shows that there is competition, and keeps Intel clean with the DoJ.
re: Amd needs market share and intel is keeping up margins only in the business that it controls which brings us back to the 2nd point
amd's short term plan is to gain market share, and thus credibility - that much we've gone over. however, all the market share they could ever want will not help them if it's at the expense of all the margins in the market. what is amd going to do when they gain the market share? Sanders will probably retire and stop throwing darts at the photocopy of Andy Grove that's above his hot tub. his company will probably stagnate, and wait for the next x86 competitor to steal market share from them. amd gains nothing.
