Paul, re: ATTBI

The service seems the same as @Home. My e-mail box is very quiet but hopefully that is mostly junk or things I signed up for once and don't miss receiving. Overall transfer speed seems to be about the same (more than fast enough) and when I have checked e-mail travel times by bouncing it off a couple of forwarding addresses the mail arrives within seconds. As I said, the transition required no action on my end and just resetting some forwarding e-mail boxes to the new domain.

Of course the real test will be as AT&T finishes adding its current, stranded @Home customers. It was not pleasant contemplating the impact both professionally and personally of being without a broadband connection but our area was lucky to be the first to transition.

I hope AT&T is able to exceed its goal of completing the transition within ten days and wonder how many may switch to DSL if there are any delays or service problems. If I note anything else I will convey by PM.

ps: From testing using bos.speakeasy.net I got download speeds of 1158kbit/s and upload of 124 kbits/s which seems faster download but slower upload (from memory). All in all plenty fast even for the 2-4MB file uploads which are noticeably slower than before and there still seems to be a "lock" on total bandwidth during a big upload. a 3MB raw file (4MB transfer) took a couple of minutes to upload but downloaded in 25 seconds and even the copy routed through the Bay Area was available within a minute of the straight address. I sent an extra copy off to my old @home box just so it wouldn't be lonely (and is now likely full since they are not forwarding any messages).
