The problem I have is the insinuation that errors were introduced without any real proof. Idle speculation is dangerous, IMO.

Admittedly, I may be the one who is confused here. I believe I was taught that the "vocalization symbols" are actually called diacritical marks. I'll have to look into this to see if I am, indeed, mistaken.
